Sunrise accomplishes this through the creation and oversight of welcoming, inclusive summer day camps, year-round programs, and in-hospital recreational activities, all offered free of charge.
Currently, the Sunrise Association oversees 11 in-person and 1 virtual day camp.
Camps are in Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Greater Philadelphia, Metro DC, New York, and Israel.
The Sunrise Association will care for nearly 6,000 children between our camps and year-round programs this year.
Job Description:
Reports directly to the Senior Development Director, the Development Associate is an energetic and ambitious professional who will partner with the development team to ensure the success of multiple fundraising events and donor opportunities throughout the year.
Essential
Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for working in coordination with lay leadership to oversee all details of an annual NYC young professional event and supporting a senior development professional at our premier Sunrise Association gala in Manhattan.
Development Associate will be responsible for creating new funding opportunities and relationships, seeking out and successfully soliciting individuals, companies, and foundations, and maintaining relationships with past organizations/donors.
The candidate will be responsible for grant writing, soliciting new opportunities for grants, and maintaining relationships with past organizations that have given grants.
Development Associate must feel comfortable public speaking as she/he will be providing tours of our camps throughout the summer.
The candidate must be energetic and passionate about our mission.
The position requires occasional evenings and weekends.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 3-5 years' professional fundraising and development experience Proven record of gift fundraising success in the New York philanthropic community Candidate must be able to identify, cultivate, and engage new donors with significant philanthropic capacity via strategic outreach and action steps, including one-on-one discovery meetings and personalized engagement opportunities Proven ability in team building skills with both professional and lay leadership Experience working with event committees to help them achieve fundraising goals Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities and move quickly from one project to another while maintaining an overall perspective Demonstrated track record of motivating and energizing others Strong budgeting, strategic planning, and marketing skills Superior interpersonal skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce-type CRM databases Excellent written and verbal skills To Apply Please submit a resume and required cover letter detailing why you are a good fit for this position.
